Comparatively brash and bold next to our Oatmeal Stout, this American-Style Stout exhibits a pronounced roasted-ness and hoppy finish. Coffee-like flavors come from the substantial use of Roasted Barley, while the hop-forward character comes from the prodigious use of uniquely American Chinook and Cascade hops. The Scottish yeast strain in this beer is clean and fairly neutral, allowing all the constituent malts and hops to shine.

(review from October 2017) Excellently well balanced, coffeeish & roasty stout with great heft on the tung. Perfect on a cold, wet fall day to get yeour Bovine tiltin' on!

On tap at the brewery. Pours black, but with some light coming through on the edges, and a 1 1/2-finger tan head. The aroma was mostly coffee and roasted malt. It didn't have a really strong aroma but I'm willing to give that a pass as I had just walked the mile from my house to the brewery in 25-degree weather so I was a bit stuffy.
The flavor begins with a direct malty sweetness that very quickly dissipates into coffee-like, lingering bitterness. There's also a hint of dark chocolate in the second half of the palate. The medium-bodied mouthfeel and lack of any alcohol burn make it quick drinkable for the style.
The brewery doesn't list the ABV, but the given OG of 1.066 and the relatively strong taste make me think this is probably around 7% ABV. It's not quite an imperial stout, but the prominent coffee and chocolate notes give it a good deal more flavor than your average 5% stout. It's in the same vein as Guinness's Foreign Extra Stout, but a bit more complex in flavor. As a beer drinker who usually finds lower ABV stouts bland, but doesn't really like the alcohol burn of 10+% beers, I can really appreciate this particular take on the style.
Overall it's a winner for me. Wish it came in bottles, because I like it a lot more than their usual bottled Oatmeal Stout.

Served on tap at the brewery. Pours a black color with a large chocolate colored head sitting on top of it. The aroma consists of chocolate with some hop character. The taste starts with some chocolate but is quickly overwhelmed by coffee flavors. The coffee is later replaced by some Bitter pine and some earthiness. Mouthfeel has some prickly carbonation with a medium body. Pretty solid American stout. More on the hoppy side of ones I have tried but enjoyable nonetheless.
