Pride of cHops tips its hat to classic “San Diego-style” West Coast IPAs, but with a modern twist. This IPA packs a bold, robust hop punch as distinctive as the whiskered look it’s inspired by.

A:
Crystal clear gold with two+ fingers of rocky beige head that ends up half a finger. Splotchy lace, decent retention. (4)

S:
Stonefruits and citrus. Underripe peaches, lime juice, mango, toasty-almost-caramelized malt, weed. (4.25)

T:
Herbal, woodsy hops with some Munich (?) malt flavor. Masticated basil, white grape juice and pine boughs, some citrus rind, dirt, toasted malt. (4.25)

M:
Dry, medium body, prickly carbonation, resinous finish. (4.25)

O:
Nice beer.
This is a fruity IPA with a stiff malt backbone and a more assertive bitterness in the flavor than is hinted at in the aroma. It is drinkable, dry and tasty.
I would definitely have it again. (4)

22 oz. bottle, poured into a wine glass,

Very pale, straw colored body. Great clarity. Fat white head that leaves lots of lacing behind. Looks great.

Smells of mango, ripe melons, cantaloupe, honeydew, hint of tangerine. Hints of honey and some dank grassiness lurking in the background.

Taste sweet honey malts, hints of bread, and then a rush of fresh melons, cantaloupes, honeydew, a bit of mango and again a hint of tangerine. Decent resinous bitterness reminiscent of grapefruit pith on the finish keeps things balanced. Grapefruit becomes a more and more prominent flavor the more you drink. Resin and bitterness seem to become more noticeable as well.

Smooth, and fairly light. Really great.

As always, very impressed by Beachwood IPA's.
