On tap at Pizza Port, Carlsbad, CA.
Dark gold with crusty film. 3.75
Tropical fruit salad, especially gooseberry. 4
Thread of toffee, then limeade, honeydew, slight kronik, orange whip, nectarine, and mango lassi. 4
Salted grapefruit end and jagged linger.
Oily, lt-med, crisp. 4
Amarillo, Galaxy, Pacific Jade, Nelson, + Simcoe
Super juicy with some surprises in the tropical notes. NS + Galaxy more than Simcoe. Opens fruitier as it goes. Class. 4.25

Appearance: Arrives the color of honey, with the head layering two fingers and leaving some streaks of lacing
Smell: Tropical fruit, dank and resinous tones
Taste: Tropical fruit with resinous bitterness building; a touch of honey appears, in the middle; bitter and resinous in the finish
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation
Overall: A nice IPA, but when compared to some of the others I tasted at the brewpub, it tasted a bit old school; I would have rated it much higher a few years ago

Type: 16-oz. draft
Glass: Clear pint glass
From: Alpine Beer Company Pub in Alpine, Calif.
Price: $6.00
Purchased: Jan. 17, 2016
Consumed: Jan. 17, 2016
Misc.: Collaboration between Pizza Port and Beachwood Brewing
Was looking forward to trying this arguably more than any other beer on a loaded taplist at the Alpine Beer Company Pub. Review was going to be quick with the Steelers game on TV. Beachwood has been killing it with its IPA’s and I’m finally coming around to Pizza Port. Predicting something between 4.15 and 4.25 for this one.
Poured a honey, pale, semi-clear color with 1-to-2 fingers of off-white, fizzy head when I got it. Good amount of uneven spiderweb lacing on the sides of the glass. Good retention on the top all the way down. (Sight - 4.00)
Smelled Citra hops, dank resin hops, earthy orange rind, caramel and tropical zest. Reminded of a quite Triple IPA, notably Alpine’s High Kicks. (Smell - 4.00)
Taste was not High Kicks, getting boozy dank resin, making it very abrasive on the tongue. Earthy bitter tangerine rind and caramel. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, bitter finish. (Feel - 3.75)
This was good, but was hoping for a lot more. Maybe I’ll give it another chance with fresh taste buds. (Overall - 3.75)

Self described dank IPA brewed in collaboration with Pizza Port (another favorite brewery). Pale body, medium haze level and a light white head. Aroma is a huge blast of hop dankness...pine, tabacco, grapefruit, it's all there. Flavor is much of the same, with an enjoying punch. Killer IPA, would expect nothing less!
