Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: American IPA
Glass: North Park 16.5-oz. Munique glass
Price: $3.49
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: Jan. 28, 2021
Consumed: Feb. 2, 2021
Misc.: Canned on Jan. 11, 2021
Grabbed a can of this and a host of others on a recent trip to Windmill Farms. Had this before, giving a taster a 4.00 on Untappd on May 29, 2017 and just writing “Outstanding.” Back of the can read “Thrillseeker is a West Coast-style IPA that will push your senses to the edge! Kettle hopping with Simcoe, Chinook, Warrior and Centennial lays down a massive citrus and tropical hop profile. Double dry hopping with Simcoe and Chinook provides an explosively bright aroma.”
Poured a pale-to-medium yellow clear color with two fingers of frothy off-white head. Could see some bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Below average spotty lacing. Decent retention. (Sight - 3.50)
Smelled Simcoe, black pepper, onion, garlic, pine, lime, Centennial, herbal, tea, woody Chinook and dry grass. Even better out of the can. (Smell - 4.00)
Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose. In order got big Simcoe, spicy black pepper, pine, onion, garlic, dry grass, Centennial, lime, herbal, tea and woody Chinook. Grew on me each sip. Tasted a little boozier than 7.1 pct. ABV. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, dry finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Outstanding overall. (Overall - 4.00)

Here's a new batch, canned 01/11/21. More hops in the boil, including Warrior and Centennial. Pours a clear amber with just a wisp of foam in the De Proef tulip. Quite lively on the tongue, however, along with a fruity tang. The aroma is intense with pineapple, orange, and mango.
Loads of fruit flavor.Quite moderate bitterness. Overall this is a surprisingly mild IPA for all the hops. But highly drinkable with the fruity bite returning to the aftertaste. From the 16 oz can purchased from Bine & Vine.

*I accidentally reviewed this beer under regular Thrillseeker on 2/28/18, so today I am just switching it over.
Beachwood is the 2x4 of beers: everything is always solid. And what we have here in Double Dry Hopped Thrillseeker is nothing but. Like Lee Marvin strutting down the blvd, this one is LARRRRGE and in charge. Glorious tropical fruit meet a delicate, hella delicate, malt backbone.
Raul is feelin this. Raul is feelin’ this well and good.

a really solid ipa, still west coasty to me, i wasnt really expecting this after double dry hopped has basically come to mean a cloudy juicy mess for the haze bros, but this one is a lot more refined than that, still oily and bitter to a degree, and more drinkable than just about anything coming from the other coast. i am not sure if all thrillseeker is doubel dry hopped or if this is a special edition, but the dry hop profile on this is awesome, piney and dank, good weed and honey come to mind, but also softer notes of papaya and mango, a touch sweet, still a decent malt base to it, and then also still considerably bitter, balanced but big. really nice hop flavors all the way through this one, fresh and interesting. i havent had nearly enough clean beer from these guys if it is all this good, and its exciting to see it popping up here in colorado a little bit. old school meets new school in this one, real drinkable for what it is, melon and pine sap and bitter orange, really flavorful and well made. these guys can really do it all!

DDH West Coast IPAs aren't always better than the regular version, and this is someone that prefers NEIPAs.

Pine and berry aroma, probably from the Simcoe and Chinook double dry-hopping. Earthy and full aroma. Flavor is pine, berry, and west coast IPA, bitter too. A fine West Coast IPA in an era of hazy clones.

Got in a trade with RaulMondesi. 16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 6/13/2018. Pours slightly hazy pale golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky off white head with awesome retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, melon, berry, citrus peel/rind, green pepper, pine, cracker, white bread, light honey, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, melon, berry, citrus peel/rind, green pepper, pine, cracker, white bread, light honey, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, melon, berry, citrus peel/rind, green pepper, pine, cracker, white bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and moderate pale malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Moderate increasing dryness from bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp, bready/grainy, and sticky/resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 7.1%. Overall this is a fantastic IPA! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and easy to drink with the moderately bitter/resinous/drying finish; not overly aggressive. Fantastic Simcoe, Chinook, Centennial hop showcase. Extremely dank, vibrant, earthy, and fairly juicy hop complexity; nice pale malt backbone, with minimal residual sweetness. A highly enjoyable offering, and perfect west coast style example. Classic dank hops are always delicious.
