Glass: Pure Project 3rd anniversary 14-oz. Teku glass
Price: $3.79
From: Windmill Farms in San Diego (Del Cerro), Calif.
Purchased: Dec. 9, 2022
Consumed: Dec. 14, 2022
Misc.: Collaboration with Firestone Walker Brewing; Canned on Nov. 14, 2022

Went to Windmill Farms looking for some North Park haze but struck out. So six cans and a 6-pack of Tierra Madre lager later I left the store with more than I planned. Bine & Vine’s website called for “Massively bright and aromatic is the way – the West Coast way! A collaboration with Firestone Walker. Hopped with Mosaic cryo, Citra, Simcoe, and Columbus hops.”

Poured a light amber clear color with three fingers of frothy white head. Could see a few bubble streams coming up along the sides and bottom of the glass. World-class semi-layered lacing. Outstanding retention. (Sight - 4.50)

Smelled Mosaic, mixed berry, Juicy Fruit, Citra, mango, red grapefruit, papaya, Simcoe, light black peppery spice, pine and citrus zest. Smelled even better out of the can. (Smell - 4.00)

Tasted almost as good as the nose. In order got Mosaic, mixed berry, Juicy Fruit, bitter pine, Simcoe, black pepper, Citra, red grapefruit, papaya and citrus zest. (Taste - 4.00)

Medium body. Creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Abrupt, bitter finish. (Feel - 4.00)

Really liked this one. It was an outstanding West Coast IPA overall. (Overall - 4.00)

I am trying a pint of this beer off the tapper at The Beer Hunter in LA Quinta, CA. It poured a clear golden with thin white head that is leaving some lace. The scent had tropical fruit notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with bright malt base with bitter pineapple and apricot presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer.

Canned January 17th 2024. From Good Times Oakland.

It pours a clear pale gold with lots of bubble action and a finger of foam.

It smells big hoppiness, grapefruit citrus, pine, and tropical fruitiness.

The taste is tropical fruit, grapefruit, pine, cracker malt, pretty dank for a west coast IPA.

Good mouthfeel, pretty enjoyable.

Straight to the point, this one doesn’t make Raul jump, scream, of glimmer with glee. No, it isn’t a black cat firecracker when it goes ‘boom.’ Now, that said, it also isn’t a dud either. That one chick Raul was forced to go to another high schools homecoming with it is not. It’s just ok. And that’s ok if you aren’t expecting much. But this is Beachwood and Firestone, so Raul was thinking a Candice Swanepoel and Miranda Kerr sleepover. Oh well. Kiss those that you love.
