Brewed with German pilsner, rye, and wheat malts. It’s then delicately hopped with German Magnum and Hallertauer hops for soft herbal notes. The beer is finished with local sage honey, grains of paradise for light pepper accents, and several pounds of red rose petals. Fermented with Belgian yeast.

On tap at Stone Brewing. 5 oz pour. Nice pale yellow color. Smells of peppery Belgian yeast. Flavor is the same - big peppery yeast flavor. Nicely carbonated. Loved this

On-tap at Beachwood Brewing

Pours a relatively clear golden color with a tall white head. A really nice aroma to this. Plenty of floral character from the roses and lots of peppery qualities as well. Hints of honey and fruity esters along with some yeast and bread. As nice as the nose is, the flavor is rather bland and lackluster. Just sort of malty with most of the flavor being cracker sort of malts. It does have a nice dry feel, though. Only lightly floral on the palate.

Clear golden in the tall tulip. Modest suds that subside rapidly. Light body. Fairly sharp. Slight peppery taste. At first sip, if you use your imagination, there's a hint of rose water. Very faint flowery honey nose. Main flavor is beery lager, maybe a honey blonde. I don't get much of the Saison flavor, either. Quite forgettable for the style, but quite drinkable for a Blonde.

I'm always hoping for just enough of the Belgian character in a Saison. The flavors are just extreme delicate, though too much rose would be a horror show, I imagine. The grains of paradise seem to be what comes through along with some honey.

On tap at Tiger Tiger in San Diego ($5.50 for 0.4 litre).
