West Coast IPA featuring three malts and two heavy hitter hops in Mosaic and Citra. Notes of blueberry, citrus, and mango from the hops make this a classic IPA.

On tap at Westbrew in Del Mar, CA.
Basic. All kinds of basic. Naming your brewery “WestBrew” kind of basic. There’s no “pop” like the popcorn at the movie theater that I went to while on a double date to in the 8th grade where we saw “Pleasantville” - then after that night I never saw her again. Thanks Toby McGwire. No shit. I love Mrs. Raul.

Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: American IPA
Glass: Monkish 16-oz. mug
Price: $2.99
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: Sept. 17, 2021
Consumed: Oct. 1, 2021
Misc.: No canned on date
Headed over to Windmill Farms to look for some new North Park ones. Was out of luck there but did come away with eight other cans. Bine & Vine website called it a “West Coast IPA featuring three malts and two heavy hitter hops in Mosaic and Citra. Notes of blueberry, citrus, and mango from the hops make this a classic IPA.” Would be my first WestBrew beer.
Poured a medium yellow semi-hazy color with six fingers of rocky white head. Could see plenty of bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass. Excellent foamy lacing. World-class foamy lacing. (Sight - 4.50)
Didn’t smell the freshest but hard to say for sure because there was no damn canned on stamp. Smelled Mosaic, bubblegum, mango, Citra, mixed berry, floral, grapefruit, melon, candied pineapple and caramel. Smelled a little better out of the can. (Smell - 3.50)
Tasted even worse than the nose. Woof. Got caramel, toffee, bubblegum, spoiled fruit, cooked green vegetable, hints of berry, floral, melon, bitter grapefruit peel and grass. (Taste - 2.50)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Earthy, chewy finish. (Feel - 3.00)
Either something was off with this beer of WestBrew shouldn’t be canning yet. Very average at best. (Overall - 3.00)
