Poured from 16oz can filled yesterday at the brewery into a dimpled mug.
Appearance: rich dark-brown hue; it's nearly black. Practically no light shines through when held up to the light. Head is a thin finger of frothy tan foam. I think it looks pretty good.
Smell: nutty, caramally, slightly sweet, and a little bit roasty. It's not super complex, but it is nice.
Taste: caramelly, toasty, nutty, and a bit astringent from the roasted malts. Hops are light but present, and earthy in character. There is plenty of bitterness, with contributions from the roast as well as the hops. Not bad.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: there's nothing particularly new or exciting here, but it's a well-executed porter, and I am rather enjoying drinking it.
