Born from the brewer’s imagination, Xenowort is as dark as a xenomorph but drinks like a classic ale. Think brown ale vibes—just deeper, darker, and a little bolder. Brewed with Amarillo hops for a subtle citrus lift and finished with a late addition of black malt for that signature midnight hue without the roast bite.

Poured from 16oz can filled a couple days ago at the brewery into a dimpled mug. They bill this as a "Black Ale"; you could call it either a black IPA or a hoppy brown ale, I'd say.
Appearance: rich, very dark brown, with enough haze that basically no light is let through the body. Head is a thick finger of creamy tan foam. I like it.
Smell: sweet, caramelly, almost bready malt. Hops seem to be citrusy or tropical in character, but they have a hard time getting through the malt.
Taste: bready and a bit caramelly like the aroma, but there's also some roast in here along with an earthy bitterness from the hops. I actually rather like it.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: an interesting beer, it doesn't neatly fit into a category. It's maybe a little sweet for my taste, but there's a balancing effect from the hops and the mild roast.
