Obelisk Beer Company

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a light to medium golden amber with a two finger white head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of pale malt, citrus and lightly dank hops, orange, lemon, berries. Flavor is citrus hops, lemon, orange, grapefruit, melon, light dankness; solid citrus rind bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A fine citrusy West Coast style IPA with hints of other fruit and a little dankness. This version uses Lupomax (pelletized) Citra and it shows with herbal intensity in the aroma and somewhat in the taste. Nice herbal elements in the finish too with lingering, pleasant bitterness. Enjoyable. Good introduction to this newish brewery.

 

Pours a clear amber color, light carbonation. Shows a finger or two of head, quickly fades. Nose is a little bit of fruit and a touch grassy. Dry hopped with The Holy Trinity of PNW hops: Chinook, Simcoe and Mosaic. Pleasant and smooth hop bitterness. Smooth finish. There are better IPAs around, but we say Obelisk can walk with anyone around here. Not bad at all for their second beer.
