With over 50 years of beer drinking experience, including 2 years spent in Germany, then add doing some published free lancing articles on beer and brewing and being a home brewer... I know my beers!
The dark lager produced by this up and coming brewery is among the best in the world! I put it up there with the likes of dark beer versions produced by Hofbrau, Lowenbrau, San Miguel and other excellent dark beers the world over!
No small statement, indeed.
Pours a nice, dark, deep garnet red/brown color with a nice lasting tan head.
Notes of baked bread, raisins and liquorice in the nose. A nice balance of grass like hop aroma in the nose, as well.
Taste is... dare I say it... heavenly! Just so spot on in flavor, mouthfeel and aftertaste, that it's as close to perfection in a dark beer as it gets!
I also reviewed their Original Lager, but that didn't fare nearly as well, though I hasten to add on the Original, I may have gotten a batch that was mishandled!
The dark though... superb and yes... rates up there as one of the best dark beers the world over!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
