Poured from the tap, fresh at the source in January 2023.
L: Slightly hazy, pale lemon-juice yellow. No carbonation is evident in the glass, but there's a thin covering of foam around the edge. Lace is left from the first sip.
S: There's a strong, spritzy, lemony citrus vibe in the nose which is quite appealing and immediately hints at a thirst-quenching brew to follow.
T: Very similar to the nose, with a pleasant bitterness and hints of pineapple and grapefruit alongside the lemon. For a mid-strength beer, this is a fantastic amount of flavour. The thirst-quenching properties hinted at in the nose come through strongly. At the end of the glass it hit me that this beer is almost a clone of Stone & Wood's Pacific Ale, but in a lower alcohol package - that's an impressive feat!
M: The mouthfeel in no way betrays the lack of alcohol in the beer. Carbonation is moderate but befits the thirst-quenching nature of the beer. No knocks here at all.
O: This is one of the best mid-strength beers I've had to date. In an ever more consumption-conscious society, coupled with Australia's strict drink driving laws, the market for this type of beer will only grow. I assume this brewery will likely never look to grow its profile outside its local area, and that's a shame because this is a very good beer that deserves wide acclaim.
Cheers!
