Poured from the tap, fresh at the source in January 2023.
L: Crystal clear light golden yellow - the archetypal beer starting back at me. There's a thin covering of foam, but poured in a taster glass so no head can realistically be expected. I never normally drink taster-sized serves, but I'm driving...
S: Again, it's difficult to stick your nose in a taster glass, but I could pick up the lightest, grainy malt body, and some floral/fruity hops.
T: There are the classic Kolsch sweet, bready, almost honeyed malts that never overpower the restrained fruity bitterness. Finishes dry and super clean.
M: mouthfeel is soft, carbonation is mild, approaching medium. Absolutely to style for mine.
O: For a brewery squatting beside a major highway, likely unknown outside its local area, this is a cracking beer. It has all the qualities of an excellent Kolsch, with harmony between the bitterness, hop flavour and malt, and, to my mind at least, the brewer absolutely nailed it.
Cheers!
