a unique single hop pils giving some spotlight to a hop that seems to rarely get it, especially these days, although i didnt find this overly hoppy, like its not a west coast pils, not hitting that level of hop intensity or bitterness, and retaining more of its european roots than most of those do, i like this as a pils, and think its a cool choice to leave it unfiltered, its still pretty refined to me, would love to try some of the other hops they have deployed in this series! good clarity even without filtration, at least according to their printed beer list, cleared by patient lagering must be, good shine to this, pale color, not too light in body, frothy white headed, frantic carbonation, looks right. the nose is lager before hops, old world yeast and grain, clean and quick, fresh yes, but pils malt hits before the hops do, and the crispness of it, the tightness, make it seem almost minimalist. the hops are herbal and zesty without taking over, adding more to the freshness perception, lovely water chemistry is evident, mid level bitterness it seems, a hint of almost rye character to me, preserved lemon, pizza dough. the flavor keeps its balance, very pure on the water and the grain, this doesnt need to be hop focused to be great, but then the hops do give it a lot of personality too, wrinkles of green tea, white pepper, grass clippings, and white grape, very earthy overall though, and it all comes and goes pretty quick with just a waft of the lager yeast left at the end. just a medium body here but i like the structure together with all the bubbles, the freshness is awesome, and the overall quality stands out as much as the recipe does. some really cool stuff happening at offset right now, i was blown away, and their lager game is every bit as compelling as their spectrum of hoppy stuff, could drink this one indefinitely, just enough intrigue and masterful execution!
