On draught at Irish Beer and Whiskey Festival '15, RDS, Dublin.
Clear pale gold with loose white foam - a bit plain. 3.75
Flowers on the nose, but both staleness and a whiff of acetate - troubling. 3
Bready malts and some mushy pear ester, but strong mustiness and no hop snap. 2.75
Crisp and round, if light. 3.5
This, I’ve heard, is meant as a malt-forward low-gravity saison that is accessible and sessionable. That being the case, it should be flawless, but it’s far from it. There’s strong evidence of stale ingredients and/or oxidation, as well as nail polish, suggesting fermentation problems. Hard to see the saison under all that. 3
