new zealand type pils here, well made, a touch safe, but drinkable as they come, which seemed to be a theme in here, lots of mellow drinkers with a modern twist, good model. the lightest side of golden, nice and clear and polished with a standard issue inch of white foam head from the tap. the nose on this is southern hemisphere hops for sure, but somewhat subtle to me, hints of sauvignon blanc, green banana, and juicy melon, but this isnt a hop bomb, and despite the thoughtful dry hopping, this remains a balanced and approachable beer for any type of pils drinker, which is not always the case with these. the base beer is nice, simple as they come, crisp and well lagered with just a little ester thing to it from somewhere. the grain is light, on the dry side, and with mild cereal tones but not a real robust identity in this. i like the simplicity, the water has a presence its so light, nothing wrong with that. fresh tasting from the hops, not quite as snappy and refreshing as it could be, but still an easy drinker by any measure, clean and well made objectively speaking. i like the hop profile, the florals it warms up with, the carbonation propping it up, and the fact i could have eight of them. just faintly soapy like their kolsch was, but is agreeable with these hops. these guys are off to a nice start.
