smoked blonde with some hops in it, neat stab at something different, really pretty aggressive on the smoke, these guys were way less impressive for me the second time though, some pretty tough beers on tap right now, makes me question the competence just a bit, some of this needs to be in a drain not a glass, but this was the best of the three we had this time. a shade or two darker than a typical blonde, average white head with okay retention, a little off full clarity. the nose is heavy campfire smoke, extinguished candle, sharp astringency with a wood tannin note, some sweet middle malts for a blonde, and the herbal hops with a lemony wrinkle, a lot going on for a beer i thought would be a little more subtle and drinkable. a cola note to it, a burnt aspect to the smoke, old coffee, generic malt, and i think in some ways the smoke does go well with the hops, this isnt overly hoppy, its unique bit it can fit, the problem is how poorly this is fermented, a stressed yeast vibe, almost chemical, soapy, detergent, all of which clashes with the sturdy flavors of the smoke and the hops, makes the beer seem cheap and flawed and fully amateurish, the quality was definitely higher on the beers we had last time. it lingers on my palate forever too, and its more than just being probably too smoke forward for the base beer, its just objectively not great beer, and thats a shame. i want this place to succeed, but after our recent trip its clear they have a lot of work to do on quality. i had way higher hopes for this beer and this visit...

Taster at brewery. Hazy golden pour, ring of white head. Aroma is smoky with light oranges. Taste is smoky, wooden, campfire with orange, fruity notes.
