a decent hazy ipa here, a little bit boilerplate the way it presents, but from a quality standpoint its one of the best ive had from these guys, who were super hit or miss for awhile but seem to be settling in a little bit now. this has some bitterness, isnt overly juiced up to me, and has enough grain where the balance is a little more like a hazy pale, which is just fine for drinkability, i dont mind the proportions in this at all. nice and fresh from the tap, orangey colored and pretty dense looking, short head but ample carbonation, wheaty and starchy looking but short of messy. the aroma is lemongrass and mango and a little juniper type character, some sweetness from the malt and earthy character too there, relatively clean ferment, just slightly green and bitter, but also tropical indeed, summery hop complexion to me, not new and different really, but well built. the flavor is good, the hops arent quite a vibrant as in the aroma, almost overbalanced by the prominent grain in this, again a little more pale-esque, but notes of ripe melon, juicy mango, navel orange, papaya, and lemon hard candy, bready at the core, light lingering sweetness, against just a tad green. solid without being amazing, but this feels like a big step forward from where these guys were at, but admittedly its been awhile. enjoyed this quite well, lots of body but it supports the hops nicely.
