solid brown porter here, and both recent beers i had from these guys were good, glad they have gotten it figured out over there. lovely depth to this, very coffee to me, without being bitter or too dark, lots of room for middle malts in this as well, chocolate and caramel notes but its not desserty or sweet really, smooth and well composed. i cant say the beard branding thing resonates with me real well, it seems contrived and unoriginal, but i suppose some of the beer name puns are landing a little bit. anyway, the beer itself is great, roasty and complex, smooth for its intensity, and i think something they should be proud of, among their best ive had. deep brown color, tan big bubbled head an inch high from the tap, looks like it should, fairly excited for the style. aroma has light smoke, dark bitter chocolate, subtle raisin and toffee in it, and a bready fermentation aspect thats subtly english to me, not neutral and it adds a lot. pretty aromatic overall, even when its cold. i get bigtime dark roasted coffee through most of the flavor with a pretty late climax on it, lots of roast but also those higher end coffee qualities of silky cocoa and even hazelnut, dark leather, and wood. its very smooth, has some middle sweetness thats resolved by the end, and the ferment enhances the overall depth and authenticity, dig the carbonation too. a deeper and more robust brown porter and a very good one, happy with the recent trajectory at brown beard!
