Fills a Pretentious Glass Co. Tulip glass clear copper brown (SRM 16-18). 4" of beige head turns rocky before slowly fading to a seafoam lace that cakes onto the glass. Within the hollow column of lace one can see a thin blanket of foam floating atop the beer.

Toasted malt allows fruit and nut notes to develop. Prune, honey, faint smoke and molasses all work with the Millard reactions to provide a rich medley of aromas.

The malt continues to drive the experience, slightly more sweet than bitter, both being mild. Grain leads to light fruit, which leads to mustiness. The finish is long and mild, carrying the mustiness to the end. The Millard reactions are on full display here.

A medium body and oily cotton texture, with fine light carbonation. Alcohol starts out as expected and lightens with warmth.

This is my first encounter with Kveik yeast, after a long hunt. And it is extremely easy drinking. Less exotic than I had expected (hoped), however, it is still a thrill to have a local brewer producing it in regular rotation. They use the same yeast in a couple other beers, one of which is in the wings right now.
