Poured from 16oz cain into my 8th Wonder chalice. Canned 2/5/25.

Appearance: nice golden hue with a light-to-moderate haze and a finger of frothy ivory foam atop. Nice!

Smell: a fair bit of sweetness here, and it's quite malty, with notes of passionfruit and grapefruit in the nose. It's nice, kind of a tropical IPA without being a hazy.

Taste: quite sweet and malty, reminiscent of a strong ale or even an American barleywine. The hops are tropical in nature and have no doubt subsided over the months (I didn't realize the date on this can when I bought it, but if the beer is out there at stores, it's fair to review). That being said, it's actually not bad; perhaps a bit sweet and boozy, but the bitterness here is mild and the tropical hop character actually works for me.

Mouthfeel: medium-rich body with a moderate carbonation and decent creaminess.

Overall: despite its age, this beer isn't bad. I think it was probably better when it was fresher, but the hops here have matured in a pleasant way, I'd say.

Poured from a growler into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium golden amber with a fine, two finger white head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of pale malt, citrus, dank and lightly tropical fruit hops, mixed tropical fruit, lemon, green pepper and some catty dankness. Flavor is pale malt, dank and citrus hops, grapefruit, lemon, light pine, catty dankness and a lemon rind and pine finish with solid bitterness. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. Interesting divergence between the aroma and taste, with a lot more citrus and pine in the taste, while tropical fruit is a clear note in the aroma. The flavor leans to bright lemon rind with some pine and dankness, but the citrus is present into a long, well bittered finish. The malt seems a bit light, leaning to pale ale territory, but the alpha oils in the finish as well as the citrus and pine are solid West Coast. Refreshing and piquant; love the bitterness in the finish. My first visit to this new area brewery and it appears busy and well loved; look forward to checking out more.
