A different, deep cherry taste, joined with a good funk (a touch of brett). A little age mellowed it. Cherry aroma. Above average mouthfeel.A blending of the base fermentation.

a lambic type wild ale with sea buckthorn and cherries. its gorgeous beer, like all of the ones i had from burdock, and the unique ingredient here is really cool, even out in front of the cherries, and this is less kriek and more about the sea buckthorn, which was both welcome and unexpected. its pinkish orange beer, almost looks plugged in, neon, and really frothy headed. the aroma is tangy and tart, and if you have ever had a sea buckthorn berry off the plant, it really does make you recall that experience, sort of gummy and orangey and very astringent, powerfully healthy even, and i get all that just from smelling it. a pie cherry tart and sweet complex is there too, white wine acidity, and good mature funk like all of their wild stuff seems to have. the fruit is really prominent in the flavor too, i like the balance between the two with the cherry in the back seat, but contributing a needed familiarity and roundness to the beer. the sea buckthorn is really tangy, zesty, and almost medicinal in here, smoothed over a little bit by a new oak complexion and a rather sturdy wheaty grain base that grounds this really well. nice carbonation, long flavor trajectory, and lambic yeast complexity and maturity. this was really impressive beer, worth the asking price and then some! expert use of the sea buckthorn.
