Polished gold with a brilliant level of clarity. Its high effervescence produces a Duvel-esque puffy white cloud of a head with fantastic retention. A Saison in a tuxedo.
Bruised apples and Anjou pear come forward in a smooth and rounded way. Soft Reisling makes its vinous character more sweet than acidic. Bits of lemon, chalk, and pepper mesh with offshoots of fruit forward phenols and esters.
There's more snap and more bite coming in the way of lemon and lime zest, punchy green grape and a dry minerality. These aren't its defining qualities however, as the green pear and ripe apple pull through and ease into the finish.
If I had to pick one highlight, the feel takes it. It's puffy and creamy while still being snappy and dry. It's concise, it's clean, and it's beautifully balanced and placed in a neatly folded envelope.
I had this in my cellar for about 4 months and I think that really accentuated its balance and seamless transitions in flavor. My favorite beer of 2019 so far. A true banger.
