ICE COLD out of the cellar comes DEEP FROOTS II. This second version of Deep Froots is a blend of 1-2 year old barrel aged mixed-fermentation saisons that were aged on blackberries, blueberries and black raspberries + blended with a splash of Niagara pinot noir rosé before bottling. This beer has acid and is highly fruitay. Think momma’s fresh Raspberry tarts / Boysenberry popsicles + a little minty whiff from those black raspberries (what a fruit!). It’s been bottle conditioning for ~10 months.

Deep, luxurious, ruby red body, like blackberry juice, clear; has trouble forming a sudsy pinkish head, almost no retention.
Raspberry and red currant, but not juicy sweet, more like a light red wine - and it does smell similar to a red wine like a pinot noir.
Berry flavours of blueberry, blackberry, black currant, red grapes, but again, not juicy sweet. This is more refined, like a wine, and with a moderate tartness providing balance and a dry finish. No discernable hops. Refreshing, with a light body and very fine, medium-light carbonation.
Give this to your wine-drinking pals - it’s fruit forward, balanced, refreshing, tart, and refined. Some might say it isn’t very beer like at all, but I enjoyed it.
