At The Cookie Bar on Drouillard Rd. in nearby Windsor, leading an outing of The Responsible Beer Drinking Club; on tap and chilled, 2oz. in a flight of 13 beers. My 16th beer from the Toronto, Ontario brewery, and 2nd for 2026...

355 mL can, day 14 of the 2022 Toronto Brewing beer advent calendar; dated Oct 12 2022 and served barely chilled.
Pours a turbid purplish-pink color, topped with less than a finger of loose, fizzy white head that dissipates within a minute or two. A frothy collar lives on, but there's no cap and very little in the way of lace. The aroma is intriguingly vinous, with grape must & juice, gooseberry, lemon and a whiff of lactic-leaning sourness. It's not exactly 'in my face', but instead rather nuanced, subtle and just an all-around pleasure to sniff.
Grape must is the first flavour that comes to mind, with Concord-esque grape juice soon thereafter. It's a little sweet, but I wouldn't call it 'sugary', as the must and grape skin tannins prove to be an effective foil. Hints of grape drink, lemon pith and lactic acidity on the back end, with grape skins lingering into a drying aftertaste. Medium in body, with a juicy, fluffy & fulfilling mouthfeel punctuated by assertive, frothy carbonation. Crushable.
Final Grade: 3.87, a B+. Good Grapes Fredonia was a neat beer to experience - I can't say I've had all that many 'grape' beers in the past, but this strikes me as a solid one. Not all that sour IMO, with the grape/grape skin flavours tending to win out - either that, or my taste buds are out of whack after reviewing sours for a week. This is a unique and tasty fruit sour that I'd recommend to others... as for me, I'm hoping to try some of Burdock's other GG variants in the future. Cheers!
