This classic style Pils (German-inspired) is made with 100% Canadian grown and malted barley. Pale, clean, and crispy — we're sorry it's delicious.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From my favourite LCBO at Tecumseh Mall in nearby Windsor. Canned April 29/25. My 13th beer from the Toronto, Ontario brewery, and for 2025. Exquisitely embraced by Gracie the cat...

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated May 23 2025 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a lightly fogged pale golden colour, producing one finger of lumpy, foamy white head that lingers for the better part of five minutes. A full coat of lace is draped across the glass as it recedes, eventually reduced to a frothy cap and collar; lookin' good so far. Clean aroma of grains, fresh baguette, apple skin and grassy, floral hops, with just a touch of citrus peel.
This is a delicious pils. Grainy malts and doughy, crackery sweetness at the forefront, joined by grassy hops and lemon peel by mid-sip. Finishes with grassy, herbal bitterness and bready, biscuity malt sweetness, concluding with a lightly bitter aftertaste that trends off-dry. Light in body, with moderate carbonation that feels prickly on the palate; crisp, smooth texture with outstanding drinkability.
Final Grade: 4.02, an A-. Burdock's North Star is easily one of the better domestic pilsners I've tried in 2025 - in fact, I think I'd rank this ahead of most of my go-to imported German pilsners, too. No, it's not an exciting beer, but pilsners generally aren't - it is, however, very well constructed, balanced, and quaffable. I will be buying this beer on a regular basis for as long as it remains stocked at my local shop, and I encourage other pilsner-loving BAs to give this a try as soon as possible.

From a 473ml can dated 29 Apr 2025. A vigorous pour into a pint glass produced a three finger fluffy white head on a light gold. Excellent head retention. It sticks around to the end. Sheets of bubbly lacing.
Fresh grassy smells. Some citrus. Tastes of sweet clean malts up front. The sweetness and bitterness are well balanced. A moderately bitter, clean hop finish.
A clean, crisp mouthfeel. Medium body and carbonation. Overall a fine Pilsner style lager. Much better than most domestic efforts. Well worth a try.

Pours a nice thick foam head. Foam stays for the whole drink. Light golden standard beer color.
Taste is real good. You get some bread dough, mild lemon zest and some hops. A small amount of bitterness on the after taste. Easy to drink multiple of these. This beer does a lot of things right.
It's way better than I thought it was going to be. Glad i bought it, and you should too.

I bought new beer at the LCBO in Ontario Canada I don't know if it was a mistake but I found them in the wine section. North Star Canadian Lager Beer right on the can. Pilsner style beer brewed with premium barley made in Toronto.
Poured into glass with one finger head that leaves lace as you drink it .
Easy drinking low bitterness at 5.2% feels like 4.2%
I would definitely buy this beer again.
Cheers
