Plotina is our rotating single-hop American Blonde Ale (4.6% ABV). For this version, we hopped it with Nelson Sauvin hops from Freestyle Hops in New Zealand. Crafted with German malted barley, American malted wheat, specialty British malt, and our house ale yeast, this ale is soft, complex, and incredibly drinkable. We taste notes of white wine, gummy bears, guava, passionfruit, and a light pine finish.
It is named after Pompeia Plotina (died around 121/22 CE), who was the wife of the Roman emperor Trajan. She was awarded the highest title for a woman in Rome, "Augusta", due to her virtue, morality, and dignity. She was also interested in philosophy, particularly Epicureanism.
