Queen Beatrice is an Imperial Milk Stout aged in whiskey/bourbon barrels and conditioned on an enormous amount of toasted coconut and cacao nibs. Queen Beatrice started out as two separate threads which were blended together: (1) the base recipe for our milk stout series Nero aged for 12 months in a single Jack Daniels whiskey barrel and (2) one of our base stout recipes known as BS1 aged for 8 months in a Willett bourbon barrel. Crafted with American malted barley, a complex assortment of German and British roasted malts, heaps of flaked oats, classic American hops, a touch of lactose in the Nero base, and our ale yeast, this stout is creamy, soft, and decadent. We taste notes of tiramisu, coconut crumb bars, German chocolate cake, and bourbon-soaked vanilla beans. It is named after Beatrice Mergy (2017-2025), who was a small yet bold Yorkshire Terrier and the younger sister of Mitsy Mergy. Her eccentric personality, loving spirit, and affectionate nature will never be forgotten. She was one of kind and one of the best dogs a family could have.
