Reviewed on the day after the brewery opened. Pint pour on draught. It pours a slightly hazy, bright golden color with a modest ecru-colored cap and minimal lacing. On the nose there is lemon peel, grapefruit rind, and pine needles but little malt presence. The taste opens with tart, bitter grapefruit and lemon, along with pine sap. It's a true "west coast" West Coast IPA without the heavy, sweet malt that characterizes what I call the southeastern variant of the style. It's bare bones in a good way. The mouth feel is lite and crisp with an appropriate level of carbonation, and the 8% ABV gives it good substance without being overly heavy. Overall, Myopic is a solid local rendition of the style. I would drink it any time.
