On draught at the brewery. Served in a Willi Becher glass. It pours a clear, grassy, golden-yellow color with a half finger, creamy, bright white cap and film of lacing. It's highly effervescent. Its nose offers cereal grains, lemon peel, and a whiff of spice. The taste is dry and grassy with a hint of tart lemon in the background. The use of sage contributes sweet, herbal, slightly bitter, peppery notes. Its mouth feel is crisp and super lite, with lively carbonation. With an ABV of 4.9% it's highly drinkable. Overall, it's not bad for the style, which unfortunately suffers by comparison to many styles with bigger flavor. I'm not familiar with "pre-prohibition" recipes but this Lager is tasty.
