Reviewed on release day for Oktoberfest celebration. Poured from 16 oz. can into a commemorative boot glass. It pours a lovely, honey-amber color with a full finger frothy, eggnog-colored cap and thick, soapy lacing It's effervescent with lots of tiny bubbles ascending the boot. A big, roasty nose with caramel malt and earthy notes. It's a tasty Märzenbier with a great balance of sweet caramel malt and earthy, roasted notes and earthy bitternesss. It's neither too sweet nor too bitter; the balance is excellent. The mouth feel is lite and clean with lively carbonation, and the 5% ABV allows for multiple glasses (or boots). Overall, Engel is a top echelon New Jersey Märzen. It's right up there with Ramstein's Oktoberfest and Bull n Bear's Von Albrecht as my favorite locals.
