On draft at the brewery taproom, in tulip shaped glass
Black in color, with tan colored head. Aroma of roasted malt and earthy hops. Similar taste, I like a hopylpy stout. Medium to fuller bodied.

I really appreciate a brewery even bothering with this style at all these days instead of only producing gigantic pastry stouts. It has a clean american hoppy bitterness and well balanced chocolately roast malt character. They don't make it much so i stock up when they do.

Pint pour on draught at the brewery. Served in a Willi Becher glass. It pours nearly black with a full finger, creamy, medium-mocha cap with excellent retention, and spotty lacing. It's a lovely pour. The smell offers roasted malt, dark chocolate, freshly-brewed coffee, and whiffs of caramel and dark fruit. Its taste is dry and roasty, with notes of baker's chocolate, burnt coffee grounds, and nutty char. It's quite bitter and slightly acidic. The mouth feel is pleasantly rich and creamy for the 7.2% ABV with above-average carbonation. Overall, Hibernation is a very good, no-thrills, non adjunct-laden American Stout It's the way Stouts should be made. It can stand its ground paired with a hardy meal but is also appropriate for casual drinking. This is Autodidact's first release of this Stout and I'm confident it will be even better next release.
