Double IPA brewed with Citra, Rakau, and Nelson hops. We gave this one an extra soft pillowy base of Pilsner, wheat and oats before loading it up with hops. A heavy whirlpool and big ol’ double dry hop is pushing out waves of candied orange, sunshine lemon marmalade, and ripe tropical fruit.

I heard and I came, bartender tells me it's their third highest rated beer, so what's not to try. Pretty pleasing hop attack. Filling, solid hoppy beer on draft.

Pint pour on draught at the brewery. Served in a snulip glass. It is a dense, turbid, pastel yellow with a half finger cap of frothy, bright white foam and lots of clinging lacing. The nose is modest; mostly citrus and soft notes of white wine. While the Nelson hops are evident from the first sip, they are delicate and well-balanced by oaty sweetness. As the ale settle and warms in the glass, I am noticing subtle stone fruit and pine sap from the Rakau hops. While not overtly bitter, there is hop burn a the finish which intensifies as the ale warms. I suspect this will dissipate within the next week or so. As with most Autodidact IPAs, the mouth feel is exquisite; thick and creamy and the 8.3% ABV is barely noticeable. Overall, I really appreciate how deftly Autodidact has used the Nelson hops in this ale. The flavors are soft but pleasing.
