A subtle roastiness enhances the mild sweetness and beautifully complements the yeast-driven complexity of this black farmhouse Saison.

Had at the taproom and home. Poured an opaque blackened color into a pint glass with a course tan head that left spotty thick lacing after dissipating quickly. Aromas are very tame but sense of malts and white pepper are present. Flavors are more pronounced with dark malts forward followed by some bitterness in between and a semi spicy dry finish. Medium bodied and unexpected, (never crossed my mind as imaginable), but the Ron's puled it off to create this very drinkable brew.

Sweet saison. Black Munich malt very much like Black lager, with some white pepper and chai tea like additions. On tap at the source. Drinkable stuff.

Pint pour on draught at the brewery. Served in a snulip glass. As advertised, it is ink-black with a creamy, light-mocha-colored head and lots of thick, clinging lacing. It resembles a Stout. The smell includes burnt, earthy malt, tobacco, and subtle Belgian spicing, including clove and coriander. Such an interesting beer! It drinks as a hybrid Porter and Saison with a bitter, earthy char base and notes of chocolate, banana, clove, and black pepper, and finishes with far more bitterness than a typical Saison. The mouth feel is good and rich and it feels bigger than 5.6%. Overall, Black Marigold is a delightful, tasty farmhouse ale, and I give Autodidact style points for not only brewing, but also canning, it.
