Collaboration with Wild Fern Brewing. Brewed with Pilsner malt, Vienna, and a touch of Rye and then hopped generously with Columbus, NZ Cascade, El Dorado, and Simcoe hops. This west coast oozes with oily hop resins presenting a clean bitterness, notes of fresh squeezed citrus, aromatic pine needles, and drippy cones of dank hop goodness.

Collaboration with Wild Fern Brewing in Frenchtown, NJ. I had a draught pour at the brewery. Served in a tulip glass. It pours an almost crystal clear, golden honey color with a half finger, egg white head and soapy lacing. The nose features lots of sweet malt and pine needles with a hint of tart lemon and grapefruit. Fresh Bones is of the malty sub-style of WCIPA. It has a firm, cracker malt base with a big pine sap presence. It is earthy and bitter. There is citrus in the taste but it is subtle and doesn't overcome the earthy bitterness. The mouth feel is lite with pleasant carbonation and it is quaffable at 6.8% ABV. I believe that Fresh Bones is only the first (or maybe second) West Coast IPA brewed by Autodidact. And they did a nice job. I like the balance between earthy malt and strong, clean pine bitterness.
