Double IPA with Egger's Midnight Harvest hops. Our friends at Egger's set out once a year at midnight to harvest an unknown mix of their hops based soley on sensory intrigue. Those hops then get packaged up and sent to a small handful of breweries, and we were one of them!
We're getting a wide spectrum of notes and sensory indicators ranging from Diesel Nelson Sauvin sweat, to overripe tropical fruit reminiscent of Riwaka, with touchs of Motueka lime zest and piney orange Rakau. Truth be told, we're all feeling around in the dark on this one, and that's kind of the point...

On draught at the brewery. Served in a snulip glass. It pours a dense, turbid, pastel lemon-orange color with a half-finger cap of creamy, egg-white head and lots of thick, elegant lacing. It is about as pretty a hazy pour as you'll find. The fruity smell includes lemon, lime, grapefruit, white wine, and orange/tangerine. It is so good! Big notes of lemon, grapefruit, tangerine, and dry white wine grape with a malt base that adds sweetness. The flavors are soft and it doesn't have that strong New Zealand taste that can overpower. Its mouth feel is super plush and viscous with appropriate carbonation, and it doesn't drink like 8.3% ABV. Overall, Holy Moonlight is a joy to drink. I think it's the best of Auto's recent run of southern hemisphere-hopped hazies.
