Brewed with a heavy dose of oats and hopped very aggressively with Citra, Nelson, and Motueka hops. It drinks with pungent notes of orange creamsicle, lemon lime zest, and tropical fruit candies.

Pint pour at the brewery on release day. It pours a dense, opaque, pastel lemon color with a finger cap of bright white foam and abundant thick lacing. A very attractive pour. The smell includes lemon, lime, white wine, and just a whiff of tropical fruit. Its taste opens with soft, tart citrus balanced by Pinot Gris and sweetness from the heavy malt and oat base. As the ale warms there are notes of tangerine and other tropical fruit. There is mild bitterness throughout but a dose of hop burn at the finish - especially as it warms - which I expect it to smooth out over time. For a single IPA to the mouth feel is luxuriously thick and plush. It is not heavily carbonated and at 6.8% ABV it is very drinkable. Overall, Retrospect offers great flavor and mouth feel. I drank it on release day and it is still a bit green but I expect it to mellow nicely.
