On draught at the brewery on release day. It resembles orange juice; dense and murky with a modest, ecru-colored cap and lacing. The smell is fragrant with lemon, grapefruit, white wine, strawberry, and earthy malt. Its taste balances lemon, lime, grapefruit, strawberry, and weedy, earthy notes. This ale has a plush, creamy mouth feel with appropriate carbonation, and it is easy to drink for its 8.7% ABV. Overall, while the hop bill of Nelson Sauvin, Motueka, Mosaic, Strata, and Simcoe works well, this ale lacks the pop that characterizes Autodidact's best work.
