Pale lager prominently features Zeus hops that we picked at Deer Creek Malt House. It's dank, it's lemony and it's very, very drinkable.

Forest & Main "Zeus' Droop"
Cask via handpump for $6/pint @ Beast & Ale, 4161 Main St., Manayunk, PA
Notes: Surprisingly clear for a cask ale, at least a locally produced one... these guys know what they're doing in that regard. Deep golden. Frothy, slightly off-white head. Very good head retention and lacing. Hops dominate the aroma but it's not that they're overly full or bright, it's just that there's not that much malt. I'm not sure what to label this beer as... it's very clean as far as yeast is concerned, leaving just hops and malt. It's not an English-style ale, and it's not an American pale ale, nor is it a German-style Kellerbier ~ and yet it kind of is, but the malt's not there... my initial thought was that it's like an English summer ale, but then the yeast component is missing... I'm just going to go with 'it's some kind of hybrid' and back that up by asking 'is it enjoyable?'. Yes, it scores pretty well for me hedonistically. I'd love to see a little more malt, or at least a little more malt character, but it remains in balance. The hops are clear, but I'm not sure of what to make of them. They're kind of a hybrid as well, combining a bit of citrus, a bit of resin, and a bit of leafiness. I'm thinking American-English hybrid, but I don't know. Regardless, they work within the greater scope of the beer. I find it clean, refreshing, and easy to drink: a perfect summer session ale!
