Bavarian Marzenbier Lager. Brewed with German Pilsner malts and imported Hallertauer hops. Bloktberfest pours a copper pint with subtle noble hop aromas. Honey malts lend toasty and nutty flavors. Extended lagering smoothes the brew, providing an easy, thirst quenching, finish. A fall seasonal at our Brewpub. Presented in .5L imported German tankards.

16oz can

Pours two fingers of off-white head into my Willi. Retention is average. Lacing is pretty good. Body is bronze in color, crystal clear, with minimal nucleation. Looks decent.

Nose is malty, toasty, bread crust. Smells exactly as it should.

Flavor is malty and rich throughout the majority of the palate, but finishes with a very odd, band-aid aftertaste. Tastes like there is something going on with the water profile, probably too much chlorine. Certainly brings it down a little bit.

Carbonation is medium-low, with a soft feel. Medium bodied. Sweet impression at first but quickly fades into the rest of the beer; well attenuated. Bitterness starts mild but quietly creeps up and by the end of the glass is lingering a little into the finish. Nice bitter mouthfeel for a Märzen.

Drinkability is good.

Thankfully the off flavor gets covered up by the rest of the palate as things warm. Overall it’s definitely a northwest take on the style, there is quite a bit of character.

Rated 1-10-2020. I had this beer at Mahoney's Taphouse and at that time I hadn't heard of Block 15 Brewing. Since then, I have discovered that they do a good job brewing beer. This one tastes more like a true German Oktoberfest beer. I've had better, but not by much. 20 IBUs

Can poured into a Seidel . Both the beer and the stein are courtesy of @snaotheus

Brewers notes: Our unfiltered Bavarian-style Märzen Lager, brewed with specialty German malts and hops. Delicate hopping with noble varieties imparts subtle floral and spicy hop aromas, while Pilsner and honey malts contribute a blend of biscuity, toasty and nutty flavors. Extended lagering smoothes the brew, providing a round, thirst-quenching finish.

Clear copper colored liquid crowned by a two finger off white foam cap

Aroma is malty

Taste is malty, slight sweetness , hint of spice

Smooth crisp mouthfeel

Good beer

Handsome coppery color with loads of foam in the Belle-Vue Gueuze glass (why not). Pleasantly sweet and quite malty. Caramel taste lingers but there is the touch of green hops with the slightest stemmy astringency. The long aftertaste running from malt to blackberry seeds invites another gulp.

This seems to have a nice balance of watery, sweetness, hoppy zing, and the resiny element. Down the hatch or whatever they say in Stuttgart. Another better than decent brew from the Block. From the 16 oz can purchased at Elizabeth Station. Packaged 08/31/21.

16oz can dated 08/17/21. Bought it two days ago at Pint Defiance.

Pours a clear amber with a pretty big head that dissipates into wispy, stiff coral reefs along the side, a thick clumpy ring, and a dusting across the surface. A little bit of active carbonation. Smell is rich, grainy, bready.

Taste is moderate grainy sweetness, maybe slightly bready, maybe a slight nutty characteristic, and a bit of a grassy almost lemony hop characteristic that shows up late.

Mouthfeel is light and smooth but just the slightest bit filmy. Overall, it's a very nice beer, and I'm enjoying it.

this is certainly outside of what i know to be their wheelhouse, hoppy stuff and incredible wild ales, but i was excited to try something a little more traditional from them, knowing how well they do everything else, and i must say, this was just a little bit disappointing. i know it was probably best enjoyed a month or two ago, but pandemic conditions prevented the gathering required to share these beers, and only just a few days ago could we get after it. this looks the part except for being a little flat, medium amber to pale chestnut in the glass but i am missing the big frothy beer mustache producing layer of head the style should be capped with. it smells right too, obviously a robust german lager yeast strain, doughy to me, crisping even with all the malt, and very earthen, almost woody and wet, and its great to have it push through the caramelized grain character in here. the flavor has nice balance too, some noble hops even kick up late, and there is great balance with the bitterness and the drying quality in the finish. the grain has a little oxidation, a little middle of the palate heft to it, and seems just a little big overall for session drinking, despite the low abv and relatively quick finish for the style. more than anything it needs more lift from some carbonation, and this element bothers me more than the little bit tired vibe overall, which is on me. this shouldnt be flat, and that really takes away from the beer overall. i like it because its unique among the crowd of these, slightly different proportions and a cool yeast profile, but the technical details are off, and i expect better from these guys...

Look: Crystal clear amber with an awesome looking head that holds at one finger and is leaving great lacing behind as it settles
Aroma: Graham cracker-like malt, melanoidin, pilsner malt, floral hops, some earthiness, and bread dough
Taste: Fresh dough, flowers, and graham cracker go big and hit hard up front with subtle notes of earth coming in and out of the frame. Pilsner malt and huge floral notes dominate the middle along with a little melanoidin and finishes with more dough and floral notes
Mouthfeel: Full, extremely clean throughout, medium-high carbonation, and a nice soft but crisp finish
Overall: This is really tasty stuff. I love most everything these folks do but hadn’t had this year’s release so far and so wanted to re-visit. A delicious and well-made Oktoberfest that to me leans Festbier and has great flavors, balance, and feel. Really good and definitely recommended

Light amber, light head, moderate lacing. Nose is faintly beer-y, not much else. For an Oktoberfest, it's a bit thin and light on flavor. You get an off note in the finish. Body is light and carbonation is low. All in all, not a bad offering, but there are better.

16oz can (dated 9/4 [2020, I presume. It didn't print well]) poured into 14oz teku. Poured a clean, clear coppery-gold color with an inch of barely off-white head that had decent retention and light lacing.

The aroma led off with some earthy grains, and floral hops, but some sweetness presented itself at the back.

Same on the tongue, crisp at first, but sweetness builds, and gets very sticky at the back end.

The body was more than light, but less than medium, smooth, and had a sweet finish.

Drinkability was fine, but I wouldn't have more than one at a sitting due to the sweetness.

Overall, a pleasant enough brew. Worth a shot if you see it.

Cloudy amber colored served on draft. Grassy with a crisp breadiness and an earthy hop bite. The finish has a nice malty sweetness lending for a rich beer. Drinks much bigger than the 5% abv.
