Duivels Bier is our interpretation of a unique historical style. A specially designed turbulent consequence base, aged 30 months in oak barrels, delivers us this sinfully satisfying, dark, sour ale—layered with notes of vanilla and caramel. Turbulent Consequence is brewed using classic methods from the Senne River Valley in Belgium. A multi-step turbid mash, inoculation with resident flora in our wild cellar’s coolship, spontaneous fermentation and extended maturation in oak barrels create this devilishly delightful beer. Mature barrels are then used in various blends throughout the year.

500ml bottle split between several small glasses. Bought it yesterday at Chuck's Hop Shop Central District.

Pours a moderately hazy reddish, small head that disappears quickly. Minuscule amount of carbonation. Smell is moderate cherry and oak, sweet-tart sourness. Maybe a little plum or grape.

Taste is tart, peach and plum. Oaky/fruit skin bitterness.

Mouthfeel is light and dry. Overall, very tasty.

another banger in this series, lambic style, darker than most, spicy, woody, majorly mature, not too sour to drink on, sort of liquid bready with a nice funky wild yeast profile, sturdy for the autumn, i think its amazing this time of year, and i appreciate my friend sharing this and a number of other block 15 specialties with me! not as dark as the label suggests, amber colored, brassy shine to it, thin looking for its strength, not a ton of head after the initial pour settles back. it smells wild but not quite like lambic, more malt here, more booze than most even in the nose, and without that sort of medicinal funk to it, but i love the mix of sourness and farmy character it exhibits. a vinous element too, lots of tannic wood and vanilla from the barrels, and some cool dried fruitiness, apples and apricots to me, again quite autumnal. flavor hints at chestnut, dried cherry, golden raisin, sherry, and rye spiciness, very complex, pretty acidic, but funky too, saison elements in the ferment, nutty, lighter bodied than it seems, drier too, and overall very interesting and dynamic. it could use more carbonation, its almost mandatory for me in this sort of thing, so it sags a little in the feel, but killer flavors here and something distinct in the style. i am curious to see what blends this ends up in, it has a ton of potential in that context and was fun to drink on its own. these guys rule!
