Introducing Alt, a Northern German-style Altbier with a beautiful malt profile.
Featuring caramel, grain and bread notes that quickly give way to a crisp and refreshing finish. Cool fermentation with a German ale yeast gives this Altbier fruity and gently rustic complexity, with extended cold-conditioning—much like what you find in a traditionally brewed lager.

16oz can

Pours a finger of pillowy off-white head into my Nonic. Retention is average. Lacing is pretty nice. Body is dark ruby red, with a high clarity considering the color, and a low nucleation. Looks good.

Nose is malty and somewhat rich, with notes of toffee and nut. Maybe a bit of burnt toast. Some obvious raspberries. Smells just slightly sweet, well-attenuated. Really nice aroma.

Malt is pretty baron at first, some burnt toast coming through. Develops into that richer malt over time. The finish has a very clear dose of raspberries, with a small tartness. Despite it being one or two dimensional, it’s pretty tasty.

Carbonation is on the higher end. Medium bodied. A very brief sweetness, finishes clean and well-attenuated, with a medium-low bitterness that does well to balance things. Great mouthfeel.

Very very drinkable.

Overall a nice, flavorful, and balanced lager.

Light level of ivory head. Medium caramel color, with an orange tint to it. Moderate amount of off-dry, spiced, medium toasted caramel malt, for the aroma. Sharp, slightly woody, medium roasted grain flavor. Medium bodied. The sharpness prevails unto the finish.

Dark amber body, nearly brown in appearance; clear; dense, lively carbonation; thick, rocky head; thick sticky rings of foam. Crisp, malty aroma; mild toffee element. Smooth, well-rounded flavor; light nuttiness and roasted grain notes; moderate bitterness counterpointing the sweetness; mild spicy sense. Medium body; smooth; slight overall warmth.

A pretty impressive example of a German brown ale style.

Somewhat clear on the edges brown, with a tan head and spotted lacing. Getting aromas of toasted caramel malt and rustic yeast with slight earth and brown bread accents. Taste is more yeasty then malty, light dark fruit added, finish is rustic and bittering. All around good feel but wetter for the style, somewhat thin, and yeast rising texture is limited. The yeast is really nice, but the balanced depth could be improved to greatness

Amber tinged brown in color with abundant foam in the Maredsous goblet. Pleasant sudsy mouthfeel. Woody aroma. Taste is bitter and sweet as others have noted. Malty with a musty flavor. The finish and long into the aftertaste is quite bitter. More like malty dishwater. From the 16 oz can purchased at Elizabeth Station. Date stamp is smeared.

16oz can from Tavour. Dark brown pour with a thick creamy off-white head that slowly subsides. Lightly roasted malts, nutty. Taste is dark malts, very subtle sweetness, woody. Incredibly smooth, superb feel. Taste is heavenly. Wow!

Poured from a can at fridge temp. Pours dark brown with a reddish tint. A good amount of head - slightly tan. Nice looking beer.

The nose is toffee, huge malts, spice, earth, figs, prunes, and a good amount of oak. The sweetness is definitely evident. Very nice.

The taste is a nice mix of sweet and oaky bitterness. Bread, cardboard, figs, tobacco, leather, earth, apples, raisins, toffee, plums, and spice. Not as sweet as the nose would suggest.

Mouthfeel is fairly light. Aftertaste is also a mix of sweet and bitter.

Canned 8/16. Pours a dark amber, clear and clean. Thick head with a whiff of toffee. Taste is heavily malt - forward; something we enjoy but others may not. There's only a hint of sweetness. Long finish brings out a bit of stone fruit with just a muted dose of hops to give the right amount offsetting the malt. Very enjoyable and would be a great complement to a tasty sausage and German potato salad.

Look: Reddish amber on the pour and looks brown in the glass though my reckless pour brings on a huge beige head that balloons almost to the brim before settling, leaving good lacing behind
Aroma: Toffee, warm brown bread, dried dark fruit notes – black cherries, plums, and figs, toasted grains, earthiness, and caramel
Taste: Caramel, bready malt, and dark fruit open it up and quickly joined by nice earthy hops and there is even a little spicy hop note as well. All the flavors intermingle and deepen until bready notes, toffee, and caramel close it out
Mouthfeel: Full, very clean throughout, medium-high carbonation, and a clean and soft finish
Overall: I dig it. This style, along with being tasty, is a great spring or fall beer style for me as it combines a flavorful malt and hop bill with lagering that keeps it from being heavy or sweeter – perfect for the changing seasons in my opinion. A tasty and well-made American take on an Altbier and I’ve enjoyed a couple 4pks already and most likely will continue that trend

A: The beer is crystal clear very dark reddish amber in color (brown when viewed from afar) and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high off white head that left a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of herbal hops are present in the nose along with notes of dark fruits.
T: The taste follows the smell, except that the hops also contribute a moderate amount of bitterness to the taste, the fruitiness is a little more apparent and there are also some faint hints of candy sugars.
M: It feels medium-bodied and rather clean on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer seems to be hoppier compared to other altbiers, but the taste has an interesting contrast between bitterness and fruitless.

16oz can served in a large snifter. Dated 07/20/21. Apparently I bought it at Pint Defiance and it has been in my fridge for a couple months.

Pours a translucent dark amber or medium brown, starts out with maybe a 2cm head that dissipates into little more than a skin. Moderate carbonation. Smell is nutty, a little toffee sweetness, slight roasty grain aroma.

Taste is somewhat muted. More nutty and slightly burnt toffee, somewhat bready, fairly soft, with the burnt toffee also doubling as a bitter flavor. Almost a coffee flavor here, too.

Mouthfeel is very light, very clean. Overall, this is quite nice.

Pours a dark reddish brown. Toasty nutty nose. There's almost a nail polish sweetness upfront that is coupled with some light roast coffee and some brown butter nuttiness. The flavor components are a little sharp in that they don't really meld together, which is the main complaint I have.

Can from Market of Choice.

A deep copper with a dense, off-white head with good retention and lacing. The nose is quite excellent. Toasty, grainy, with toffee, leather, earth and burnt sugar to go with a delicate hop character, bitter, earthy, and leafy. The palate has a blend of bitter grain flavors - burnt sugar, toffee, leather - along with a rye like flavor. Firmly hoppy with creamy bitterness, there's earth and a little mint. Drying, bitter but with a light fruit character from the yeast to go with the toffee notes, this is tasty. A hair watery but otherwise extremely competent.

Pours a nice clear deep copper. Small off white head. Leaves lovely lacing.
Aromas of toasted malts, light rye bread and light coffee.
Taste pretty similar to the aroma. Little dark fruit taste in the end.
Mouth feel is medium body. Well carbonated. Gets a wee bit sticky in the end.
A pretty good beer
