5th at the Taste Eve. Hazy body. Sour aroma. Wow, very sour, but pretty good. Taste is almost all sour with a mild taste of sweet plum.

Draft in a snifter, quick review from notes.

Pours a murky reddish brown color, thin skims cross the surface that left behind some sparse spotty lacing in the glass.

Smells just like La Folie to me, grapes and a slight maltiness with a light vinegar sharpness.

Taste was a bit of a letdown, oxidized malt in the middle and aftertaste, initial fruit tartness like an underripe green plum I guess. Lightly sour, medium bodied. We opted to share this one and move on, not really worth a second glass. Exodus is so much better, not sure what happened here.

On tap at Dexter's today, 5/9/2014.

Beer #900, review #591.

A- Very ugly dark brown-red body. Particularly large two finger white head with very good retention and some lacing. But the colour of the body is just very unappealing.

S- Tart plum, dark fruit, vinegar, tartness, oak, subtle vinous qualities

F- Sweet plum juice complimented by vinegar (7/10 sour), small bit of lactate, tart table grapes, oak, red wine barrel is subtle but is most obvious in the dry, tannic finish.

M- Medium bodied, well carbonated, easy to drink and definitely refreshing.

O- A nice treat, I enjoyed this more than I did Exodus. The plums do very well in adding a fruit flavour and tartness without going overboard with on the sweet end. This is plenty sour and the red wine barrels add a noticeable vinous dryness to the finish. I just can't get over how unappealing the beer looks, though- get a pour of this and you'll know what I mean.
