appearance: The pour into my Great Dane pint gives a low, eggshell colored head soon recedes most of the way. The beer is a bright copper-amber in color.

smell: Various toasted grains and seedy notes upfront with a hint of sour mash. Earthy. Stale, grainy bread. Light hop aroma.

mouthfeel: The carbonation is towards the higher side of the medium range, and the body medium.

taste: Grain husks and other lightly toasted malt notes upfront with a sour touch. Light noble hop flavor and bitterness. Nothing great, but balanced and a good drinking beer.

drinkability: good, could have a few

Golden yellow with a bit of brown tinge, fast disapearing white head. Beer cheese smell with some peat. Tasty peatish though thin mouthfeel, very high malted. All though not up to my other samples from this brewery, still refreshing.

12oz single, Riley's, hadnt noticed it until just recently

appearance: pours into 42nd street oyster bar (mmm) pint glass, clear body, light copper-amber colour...light beige foam forms and coats my nostrils as i attempt to smell it...a few seconds later, the head is gone forever

smell: sweet apple, roasted nut, toasted grain, toasted malt, caramel sweetness, fall foliage...you know, the usual

taste: this is a rather sweet oktoberfest, big red apple flavor, smooth caramel, toasted grain/malt body, light roasted nut, only a light metallic feel, vienna malt...nothing horribly special but enjoyable

mouthfeel: smooth, medium body, high sweetness

drinkability: good

Picked up a single at Riley's here in Madison. A brewer's reserve octoberfest? Hmmm.

Pour: a crystal clear amber under a cm of caramel foam.

Nose: potent caramel and molasses malts, rich grain aromas, a little copper astringency in the finish.

Taste: almost spicy caramel malts, apple skins, bitter grains, metallic astringency, a touch of hops bitterness.

Feel: velvety, lager smooth, mild carbonation

Drinkability/Overall: A pretty nice O'Fest actually. One of the more flavorful iterations of the style I've tried. A strange pick for a brewer's reserve, though. Just make it a seasonal.

Pours a deep copper color with amber tinges. A medium off-white head.

Muted aromas. The only thing I could pick up is some spices. After sitting, even that disappeared.

Flavor isn't very strong. Especially in the beginning. Then it opens up with a caramel sweetness. Not really sure what spices I'm tasting, but they're not the usual octoberfest fare, which is nice. Unfortunately the overall package is a little weak.

I'm not a big fan of Oktoberfest beers, so I was happy to see something a little different. Particularly the caramel flavor. However, it was a pretty weak overall. It tastes like 2 ingredients and water.

Pours out light amber and sits a bright reddish-amber, just clean and clear as can be. Nice off white head that fades quickly to skim. Yet another beer I can recommend serving in a fluted glass of some sort, the gradient is amazing.

Smells rich and caramely, true caramel. Malts come out nice and toasty. A hint of hop spiciness is in the background. This is a bit different than it was on tap, but it was probably just the atmosphere. Rich and creamy, very nice.

Tastes malty and sweet up front and packs a killer toasty punch. Like Bighuge said, it's all about the Vienna malt. Mild hop flavor, just a bit peppery. Finish is nicely bittered and leaves you with those good toasty flavors once again.

Crisp and clean in the mouth with nice tingling carbonation, nothing too extreme. Nice full feeling body, but quite easy to handle.

Yeah, it's a drinker. A big easy drinker. Delicious O-fest brew, makes for a great session.

This is most definately not buttery like it was on tap. Maybe something screwy there. Both are good tasting, but I'll take the bottle.

Me and the big person drank this side-by-side and both were impressed with the wonderfull toasty notes on the nose and the taste....low ABV which means this is a great O-fest beer to drink all day long....reminded me jsut a little of Sam Adams O-fest...not the rich, thick style of Summit O-Fest (which at 7.7% is an excellent sipper but not a true drinking o-fest....)..

Nice amber/orange tone to this brew. Decent sized head with good retention. Aroma is full of toasted malt goodness. Very nice nose. The taste follows through bigtime with the nose. This one is all about the Vienna malt toasted goodness. Very nice flavor. And this ofest is not real heavy. I could drink a lot of these in a session. Reminds me a little of the Elliot Ness in it's toasted/vienna character.

2004.
Nicer effort this go-round. Hazy maple hued. Toasty nose. Nutty and dry. Caramel and almonds. Woody. A bit yeasty, but generally clean. Twiggy German hop snap. Lighter bodied, but full of structure. A real mass drinker. Solid festbier.

2003
Pale copper with a large, wet head that shows all sorts of stick.
Lightly toasty honey aroma. Bits of grain and grassy hops as well.
Enters surprisingly mild and stays that way. Toasty and even a bit nutty up front, but it all vanishes quickly. Strange, macro-ish sweetness. Is there corn in here?
Well-lagered softness shines through in the middle, but is otherwise hollow. Chlorophill-laden grassy hops enter later on, but the hopping, once again, is mild. There is a sense of growing vegitation post-swallow.
Light bodied and certainly drinkable in big sums. A bit lacking in carbonation after the pour.
This is just too bland for me to spew praise about.
A very average festbier.
