Dark brown / auburn with minimal head and lacing. Par for the style. Smell is sweet, toasted oak, vanilla, brandy. Taste adds some dark fruit, cherry, a hint of citrus along with lots of caramel / toffee / burnt sugar. Very good and in line with the concept.

On tap at Blue Moon in Madison, Wisconsin. Served in a globe snifter.

Appears medium-dark brown body, clear, minimal head, not much retention or lacing. For the most part, it looks like most any strong ale that I've tried. Smell is with a fair bit of brandy, oak, sweet toffee. Not too complicated. Flavour is sweet toffee, mild caramel, fair bit of oak and brandy sweetness. Mild earthy bitterness helps to round things out a bit, but this is a fairly sweet beer. Mouthfeel is a medium bodied, mild heat, lower carbonation feel. Overall, cool concept and it seems about right for me; although I must state for the record that I don't drink cocktails or even Old Fashioneds, so that should be taken into consideration.

Made it into the Great Taste pre-party at Brickhouse BBQ. First beer is Call Me Old Fashioned. Bitter cherry brandy aroma. Not much carbonation. Dark red brown body. First sip hits with the familiar taste of an old fashioned, followed by that typical yummy Central Waters barrel taste. Different, but I like it.
