Pours a clear light yellow golden color with white head. Lager yeast, pine, grass, cereal grains, and a little light fruit on the nose; follows onto the palate. Light bodied. Finishes like a typical lager with some IPA-like qualities. Nicely done.

Pours a hazy golden color with a decent head that fades to nothing rapidly. The aroma is yeasty and citrusy. Flavor is the same with the lemon taking center stage. Hops are bold. The feel is very crisp and I could see myself drinking a few on a hot day. Overall one of the better low ABV (5.2%) beers I've tasted.

This beer pours a pale gold with a large head. The aroma is citrus lead, with lots of lemon and orange peel, peonies, soap, unripe banana, white grapes, and white pepper. The flavor is much milder than the aroma, lead by bold cracker malts, mild floral qualities, and hint of orange and underripe fruit. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with soft, foamy carbonation. Overall this is a decent beer, and the aroma is really gorgeous, but the flavor falls off quite a bit from this. A bit too full bodied to be truly easy drinking, it sits in a nebulous middle zone.

Aggressive pour yields 2+ fingers of white head. Aromas of citrus and hemp battle for a front row seat (it's a dead heat), but the taste is heavy on the hemp. Delicious.

The feel is bright, but the hemp gives this 5.2% ABV IPL some body. This tastes like summer poured from a bottle. Well done by an underrated (IMHO) brewer that does a lot of styles REALLY well.

Smell: light citrus notes orange grapefruit
Taste: just like the nose some citrus notes orange lemon peel
Finishes with a little grapefruit biterness.
Feel: light medium body semi dry In the finish really drinkable and refreshing.
Overall: not a lot going on with this beer. But it's so drinkable and refreshing. A really nice summer beer. Wish I could get this were I live. A great option for summer night session drinking.

Very nice stuff. Can definitely tell it's a lager, though it's on the soft side texturally. Pleasant citrus hop aroma. Ditto for flavor, with a perfect bitter/sweet balance. Very easy drinking.

12/11....hazy bright gold, very high white foam of over an inch. Patchy. Resiny floral nose. Fresh citrus. Burst of a buzzy bitter, slight grit, fast finish. Peppery mouthfeel. Bold bitter for a lager.

Pours a cloudy, golden color. 5/4 inch head of an off-white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of yeast, sweet malt, hint of hops, hint of citrus, and slight resin. Fits the style of an American Pale Lager. Mouth feel is sharp, crisp, very bitter, with a high carbonation level. Tastes of yeast, sweet malt, hint of hops, hint of citrus, and slight resin. Overall, good appearance, but aroma and body are too resin-y, and the feel is very bitter.

12oz Bottle
$1.79 Single
Coffee Grounds - Eau Claire,WI

Summarillo is a hazy pale golden lager. The haze is enough to make seeing through the body an impossibility. The foam is pure white with amazing density. The stickiness and staying power is out of this world, it looks like a dollop of whipped cream atop the body. The head is bolstered by a storm of carbonation bubbles rushing to the crown from what seems like every point of the glass. Greta looking beer.

The nose is big in the hop department. Citrus leads the way and is present by the fistful. Orange and grapefruit pulp along with a sprinkling of pith for good measure. Lemon is certainly vibrant, bright, and distinct. A spicy floral quality haunts the background. The pale malt base is fairly simple with nothing more than a biscuity base as canvas for the Amarillo showcase.

Orange and grapefruit wash over the tongue from the get go, pulp and peel both, a little pith here and there. What's really bright, really sets this summer sipper apart is vibrant lemon that pops up mid-palate. The lemon fades toward the finish while a soft spiciness peeks through. Again, the biscuity malt base lays down a solid foundation.

The body sits squarely in the middle of the spectrum, weight wise, while the carbonation is active but soft. A lot of tiny bubbles. Btterness runs the sides of the tongue and grows with each drink, peaking at moderate. The abv, bright lemon and citric notes, and an easy dryness make this beer an easy one to put away.

I'm of the opinion that this beer is criminally underrated. For all the breweries that put out "summer ales" every year I'd reach for this here lager 9/10. It's not crisp like a pilsner but this beer works on all levels. The abv is right, the body excellent, a nice bitterness, and an immensely refreshing quality all make for a beverage I enjoy.

from a single into a willi becher
a: hazy golden straw with a huge puffy white head that sticks around forever and leaves good lacing
s: faint fresh bread, but mainly some mellow sweet candied orange rind and some orange blossoms...nice.
t: follows the nose, with, again, the mellow citrus floating on a bready for the citrus, it's there but it isn't too sweet or juicy or tart or rind-dry...just kind of mellow and pleasant and refreshing, as it lingers lightly on the tongue.
m: pretty soft, I think it is a little undercarbonated and a little heavy for a lager...I don't find it all that crisp, a quality that I love in many summery lagers.

I personally think this beer is a little underrated. I was lucky to have it on tap. Fairly light with a good hop bite. A little bit tropical tasting, not much malt backing. Kind of one dimensional, but definitely could have a few on a hot summer day.

Pours a frothy, white head that has great persistence, and laces readily. Intensely bright hop aroma is dominated by candied citrus rind. Clear, golden-straw color with a slight chill haze. Starts with a very intense citrus rind hoppiness. This builds to a medium bitterness and the citrus rind changes into a slightly more piney character. The citrus rind lingers into the finish briefly, but as it recedes and the soft maltiness comes through, it takes on an orange blossom quality of citrus and floral.

This isn't bad. It's always fun to have a lager with a giant, poofy head that never seems to go away, too. The lingering citrus rind is never my favorite, but this isn't too overwhelming. Of course, I am a fan of hoppy lagers, because a lager allows for a certain clarity of the hops that ales can't quite replicate.

L: Pours a lively hazy straw gold under a lacy 2” rocky foam cap that takes 4 minutes to fully recede. S: Light grass, citrus, light fruit and mint aromas rise from the glass. T: Some background malt gives way to a big citrus followed by a grassy bitterness that lingers during a long drying finish. F: A slight creaminess with a medium light body with medium high carbonation that provides a little bite. O: Crisp and refreshing and full of hop flavor. Not your grandmother’s lager.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a chalice.

Appearance: Pours a hazy golden orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. Big two finger white head with decent retention.

Smell: A zesty, earthy, and spicy aroma with a scent of citrus, grass, and spice. Citrus hop scent of lemon, orange peel, grapefruit, and tangerine. Earthy hop scent of grass and pine. Pale malt with hints of cracker, grains, straw, and a Belgian like yeast strain. Spice hints of pepper and coriander. A pretty nice aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a zesty, spicy, and earthy taste with notes of citrus fruit, grass, and spice. Upfront citrus fruit notes of orange, lemon, tangerine, and grapefruit. Also some piney and grassy hop notes. Bready malt notes of grains, straw, cracker, and a Belgian like yeast presence. Spice notes of white pepper and coriander. A pretty good taste.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Crisp, juicy, and pretty smooth.

Overall: A pretty nice twist on a lager. Kind of comes off like a Belgian IPA with a lot of zesty fruit and spice.

A: The beer is slightly hazy light yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high bright white head that died down, leaving a thin layer of bubbles on the surface, a collar around the edge, and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of lemons, tangerines, and grassy hops are present in the nose.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste has flavors of lemongrass along with notes of tangerines. The hops impart a light to moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and a little crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is quite aromatic and flavorful for an IPL that is somewhat lighter in body compared to others in the style. I would consider this to be sessionable.

12oz bottle. Poured a clear, golden color with a fizzy, off-white head of foam. It smelled of caramel, toasted bread and floral notes. Nice and sweet with some caramel toastiness. Mild bitterness.

A good lemony citrus flavor to it. It's very mild and very drinkable, with just a little bit of a tart aftertaste to it. Very nice, and would make for a great anytime beer.

Aroma is pine, tropical fruit and mildly grainy. The flavor is tropical fruit, hops, grainy malts, citrus/fruit and a long and bitter/beery/mildly spicy finish.

This beer is attractive looking with a golden yellow hue and 2.5 finger brilliant white head.A good amount of lacing. Unfortunately it is down hill from here. Has a somewhat skunked aroma to it. Grainy, bready, musty hops. The flavor is very bitter and lacking the lager sweetness. Has a tart and dryness about it. Not very impressed with this one as it was a chore to finish.

Pours straw yellow with a fluffy white head that leaves lacing.

The smell is of citrus and lemongrass.

The taste is citric with lemongrass and some wet cracker. Dry, bitter, lemon/floral finish.

Light and crisp. A little harsh - mixed feeling about the feel - but it is dry and crisp, so will give it the higher of the two scores I had in mind.

Hop-forward and crisp, but it does not have much of a malt backbone, landing it a bit harsh for a lager. Still, it is drinkable, and enjoyable overall if you are looking for a hop-forward lager.

12oz bottle served in a Central Waters snifter glass.

Pours a medium straw yellow body, three finger white head that recedes steadily, leaving thick lacing and thin film. I had to let it sit for a bit before pouring the second half of the bottle in. Smells of bready malt, pine, minerals, spices (not bubblegum) not unlike Belgian yeast; resin. Flavour is primarily a moderately bitter piney flavour throughout, a bit of bread, malt, slight honey, grains. It's certainly not bad, but it is certainly quite bitter. Mouthfeel is lighter bodied, a bit lower in carb than expected for the style, dry and resinous, moderately bitter pine. Overall, it's a decent IPL but not something I'd go back to. It's too bitter for a lighter bodied beer that should otherwise be very drinkable.

Enjoyable IPL, a style I've had mixed results with it the past. A nice citrusy aroma is followed up by citrus taste, as well as some grassy earth tones. Finishes crisp as a lager should.
