Crowler straight from the Amherst, WI brewery.
Toffee colored body with ruby highlights. A small head of 1 finger forms in the NG pilsner glass.
Aromas of caramel, toffee, sticky figs, molasses, fruit, and flowers. Molasses just keep on coming.
Tastes like the Barrel Aged version but with less heat and whiskey (imagine that!). Lots of scotch flavors here, with dry malts, fig, toffee, sticky plum, anise...faint licorice and tobacco notes.
Feel is sticky, tacky, parching...sorta slick, and leaves a dry plummy feel on the palate.
Overall...I paid $6 and I wish I'd got a second 32 oz crowler. A novel idea would be to do sixers of this in their year round line up. It would easily be their best six pack and kill their competition. I like the idea of not having the heat overwhelm or distract the natural Belgian Quad recipe CW has concocted. At around 6 or 7%, this is one fine Quad.
