Pours to a murky brown appearance with a 1 finger tan head. Lacing is almost non-existant. Roasted malt smell dominates the nose with faint cherry poking out with swirling. Taste is rather bland - some roasted malt and a bit of tart cherry on the finish. Light to moderate body. Not a bad beer given it's a "freebie" for River Run participants - seems to be par for the course in terms of River Run beers.

Pours a deep brown with about two fingers of head. Break leaves spotty foam and some poor lacing.

Smell isn't much to write home about...some rye and cherry obviously, but neither grabs the nose. Were I to say, the roast malts are the strongest smell.

Taste is bitter chocolate with cherries. The rye adds a spice to this, but again to my palate the roast malts steal the show.

Feel is medium/light about right for the style. Finish is quick, and one is left with a rye finish.

Not the greatest by a longshot. I am not sure what the goal of this beer was, but I am left trying to make the best of it. I think it's too busy and lacks a definite identity.

On tap at Central Waters. Served in a plastic cup. Pours a medium brown body, fairly murky, one finger white head, good retention, medium collar, not much of lacing. Smell is light cherry tartness, light spicy rye, touch of grainy biscuit. Not all that complicated, but reasonably interesting. Flavour is similar, mild cherry tartness balances reasonably well with a bit of grain, biscuit and rye bread. Mouthfeel is lighter bodied, a bit thin, reasonably carbonated, light cherry tartness and a touch of roast on the finish.
