Big thanks to 4DaloveofSTOUT for this 22 oz. bottle, my first swig of beer brewed at the Milwaukee facility. Split with my wife.
Dirty black pour with thin but persistent head. Nose isn’t very interesting; vague sweetness, no barrel.
Milwaukee 2: Blue Label is a gentle, soft-spoken beer. Nothing jumps out at the palate. There is smooth, subtle chocolate followed by understated bourbon, which develops a few rough edges a half-hour out of the fridge. Rye spiciness is faint enough that I wouldn’t have noticed if it wasn’t inked on the label. A touch thin (I hate to attach that label to any CW beer – it’s been beaten to death over a decade), which makes it easier to swill.
A solid barrel aged stout that appears to be less than the sum of its impressive parts.
