16oz pour into a plastic cup (it's their anniversary party - the glassware is all awaiting washing). Black IPA/CDA brewed with rye malt.
Very dark brown color, virtually black. Moderate sized khaki head. Decent amount of lace.
Aroma of dark, roasty, lightly chocolatey malts and a bit of spicy rye.
Like in the nose, the roasty aspects rule the roost in the flavor dept. Very roasty up front, backed with spicy rye notes. Deep in the background are notes of chocolate and cherry, but with the emphasis on DEEP. Dry finish.
Medium bodied, somewhat oily mouth feel.
A fairly decent CDA, and the rye is a nice twist. I'd drink it again.
